Bioactive Collagen (500 g) is a composition of different highly-purified collagen peptides derived from a specific type of hydrolysis from bovine skin. Collagen peptides are rapidly absorbed from the gastro-intestinal tract. Peptides are broken down into amino acids or di-peptides but are also absorbed to some extent in molecular intact form.
Collagen peptides have a positive impact on the biosynthesis of extracellular matrix (ECM) in cartilage tissue, as demonstrated by a statistically significantly increase of two major components, collagen type II and proteoglycan (aggrecan) after ingestion.

Arthred® (240g) is a patented, low molecular weight, pharmaceutical grade hydrolyzed collagen product. It is a free flowing predigested powder that is easily absorbed. Obtained from a bovine source, it is made through a proprietary process that breaks down the collagen into very small pieces: 3 kilodaltons (kDa) for Arthred® vs. 70 kDa for regular gelatine. Clinically significant doses of regular gelatine typically cause severe gastrointestinal reactions including diarrhoea, precluding its usefulness for cartilage support. Arthred®, by contrast, is extremely digestible and is well tolerated.
Arthred® hydrolyzed collagen is a unique protein, containing high amounts of certain amino acids, including glycine, proline, hydroxyproline and arginine.
